Supporters step up for trans woman

Sometimes, people can surprise others in the best, most thoughtful ways.

A 21-year-old transgender woman can attest to that. Because of the kindness of those in her community, she now has a “second breath” after receiving a donation of more than €1,400 to be put toward laser hair removal and hormone therapy.

The Daily Echo tells the story of Sasha, an international student from Latvia, who said she had the sense of being a girl since she was 4.

Now, thanks to the goodwill of friends, family, and even strangers, the money raised in only two days can help Sasha begin her transition. Hormone therapy and laser hair removal treatments can be expensive, and the cost of transitional services is often an obstacle for people looking to address gender dysphoria.

The donation was important for Sasha because it can help her become her true self in a more efficient manner. Unfortunately, some individuals wait years to begin their journey because they can’t afford these services.

But because of the generosity of others, Sasha can look into starting treatments, one of the biggest milestones of her transition as she is able to embrace her true self.
